Introducing myself. Hi I’m Gemma, an equine sports massage therapist based in the Midlands. I cover from Hull to Leicester and anywhere in between! I love to be out on the road so I will try and accommodate everyone in an area. I am currently training as a Human Sports massage therapist and will be offering horse and rider treatments in the new year. I qualified last year but unfortunately my 10 month old baby passed away and I have since had another baby, so life has been put on hold. Now I plan and use my new qualifications and love of horses to help them feel better and enjoy their work. Previously I have worked for Darryl Thickitt Dressage and Stephen Thompson Eventing looking after babies to oldies and mares, geldings and stallions. Whilst working with horses I became interested in how I could improve their welfare and comfort. My own horses, Tilly, Marco and Melody. Tilly has taught me everything I know. Marco I rescued from racing. He had an incredibly sore back and kept bucking people off. He was going to be pts so I took him and now he’s a chilled out old man with no pain in his back after I learnt how to massage him and keep him supple. Melody had a fall as a baby and is always sore on her right hind which is the reason I started this job. She showed tension all over her body from being tight in this area. Once I knew how to release her she now goes fabulous. I’ve also got a client scheme where every 5th massage you get a discount. I’m not a vet, vet physio or chiropractor. I am a sports massage therapist. I work by touch, the feel of muscle texture and also a lot or owner/rider input. I cannot and will not diagnose but I can explain what I can see or feel and advise you on that. My priority is making sure I leave you and your horse happy and healthy and in order to do that I need your opinion too.
