Hi, I’m Kylah, a freelance stable yard assistant covering the area from Nairn to Fochabers. With 19 years of riding experience and over two years of professional hands-on horse care experience, I offer reliable, knowledgeable, and compassionate support for horse owners who need an extra pair of hands or holiday cover. My experience has primarily been gained on livery yards, where I have cared for horses while their owners are away, ensuring they receive the same level of care and attention as if their owners were there themselves. I am experienced in all aspects of daily yard management, including mucking out, turning horses in and out, feeding, hay and water management, rug changes, grooming, tack and brush cleaning, administering medication, holding for veterinary and farrier visits, bandaging, groundwork, lunging, physiotherapy stretches, and ridden exercise where required. Since February 2026, I have also been working with youngsters and horses beginning their ridden careers. This role has allowed me to continue developing my handling skills and gain valuable experience working with a variety of ages, temperaments, and personalities. I always approach unfamiliar horses with patience and respect, taking the time to understand each horse as an individual while prioritising safety and welfare. Horse welfare is at the heart of everything I do. My clients often comment on my attention to detail, reliability, and the genuine care I show towards their horses. I work efficiently while maintaining high standards, ensuring every horse is happy, comfortable, and well cared for. References are available upon request. I hold a Diploma in Equine Psychology and am currently studying towards a BA in Equine Business Management. I am highly confident in recognising signs of illness, injury, and behavioural changes, and I always pay close attention to each horse’s unique needs and routines. I am trustworthy, organised, hardworking, and equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team. I hold a full UK driving licence and have my own reliable transport, allowing me to travel throughout the local area. Horses have been a passion of mine from a very young age, and I have dedicated much of my life to learning about and working with them. There is nowhere I’d rather be than in a yard, rain or shine. I offer weekday, weekend, holiday, and emergency cover where availability allows, although spaces are limited.
